Board of Trustees
The Northern Chaffee County Library District is governed by its board of trustees. Trustees are nominated based on application of interest and approved by the Chaffee County Board of Commissioners. Trustee terms are for three years; trustees may sit for two terms.

Board Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of odd months at 5:00 p.m. at the Library. Meetings are open to the public. Public comment is allowed during assigned time on the agenda and for no more than five minutes per guest.
Trustee Vacancies and Recruitment
The Northern Chaffee County Library District (Buena Vista Public Library) announces two openings on its Board of Trustees for terms beginning in January 2024. Library Trustees serve a three-year term and are eligible for a second term. The Library Board meets regularly on the fourth Tuesday of odd months at 5:00 p.m. We seek a civic-minded leader to guide the policy, decision-making, and development of one of the community’s greatest assets. Letters of applications may be directed to Board President, PO Box 2019, Buena Vista, CO 81211, or to email@example.com. Letters must be received on or prior to Nov. 17. Candidates must reside in the library service area (same as the BV R31 School District) and should become familiar with the by-laws, policies and strategic plan of the library.
