In preparation for the opening of the expanded library in March 2026, the Library seeks qualified candidates to fill the following positions. The Library offers a benefit package which includes paid time off, PERA retirement contributions, health insurance for full time employees, 13 paid holidays per year, and professional development support.

Library Assistant– part-time (Posted December 10, 2026; open until filled)
The Buena Vista Public Library seeks a friendly, community-focused Library Assistant to provide outstanding customer service to guests of all ages. This frontline position supports visitors with locating materials, accessing resources, navigating services, and tech help. Duties also include checking materials in and out, shelving, maintaining public spaces, and supporting daily operations. Seeking candidates with experience or interest in graphics and marketing. Early Literacy Program Specialist— Part Time (posted Nov. 10 2025)
The Early Literacy Specialist leads the Library’s programs and services for youth ages 0 – 5. Buena Vista Public Library supports early childhood development and literacy, as well as supports families and caretakers with education and resources. The Specialist plans and implements Library youth programming for children ages 0 – 5, including weekly recurring events, special events, passive programming, and a robust Summer Reading program; maintains safe, engaging and welcoming spaces for youth and families; and, acts as the liaison to the community’s public and private daycares and preschools, as well as to early childhood organizations and providers. The Youth Engagement Specialist leads the Library’s programs and services to youth ages 6-12. Volunteering
The Library thrives because of its volunteers. Volunteers help with classes, shelve books and movies, prepare take and make kits, and complete special projects. If interested in volunteering, please complete BVPL Volunteer Application and BVPL Background Check forms and submit to volunteer@buenavistalibrary.org.

Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
